There is nothing worse than being in a big meeting or getting ready to go out and suddenly your feel it coming on, the dreaded hot flash. Many women wonder what are the major causes of hot flashes and what triggers them? During menopause, the body goes through significant hormonal changes, these changes often are the cause of hot flashes.
Other causes of hot flashes can also be lifestyle changes or medication. The major cause however continues to be a decreased level of estrogen in the body. This can lower level can impact the brain which in turn signals the body to heat up. This heating up is referred to as a hot flash. They can come on quickly with little warning. Some women claim that they feel a sudden, hot feeling in their face and upper body.
Because the body is out of hormonal balance due to lower estrogen levels which causes hot flashes, some women also have other symptoms including rapid heartbeat, sweating, nausea, dizziness, headaches, anxiety and a feeling of weakness. If you are having any of these symptoms, you are likely going through menopause and it is recommended that you speak with your doctor.
