Pregnancy hot flashes – are there any tricks to relieving them?

 

You think you are going through menopause because of everything you have read about hot flashes but that is impossible because you are pregnant.  Millions of woman around the world suffer from pregnancy hot flashes likely due to the hormonal changes taking place.  Pregnancy hot flashes most often occur at night making sleep very difficult.

 

It is believed that over 70% of all women suffer from pregnancy hot flashes because of fluctuating hormones.  Women describe them as a hot, flushed feeling in the face and neck area.  Some say sweating does occur along with dizziness or heart palpitations.  If this happens to you, simply sit down and take a brief rest until it passes.  The often don't last long but they can leave a headache behind.

 

If you are suffering from pregnancy hot flashes, here are a few things you can do to help relieve them.

  • Avoid caffeine and nicotine later in the day and early evening
  • Be sure to exercise during the day rather than at night
  • Go to bed and get up at the same time each and every day
  • A warm glass of milk before you turn in may help
  • Keep the bedroom cool at night
  • Wear cotton pajamas to keep cool
