Soy and menopause – does it really work?

More and more women are turning to natural herbal remedies when it comes to treating menopause symptoms.  There is a lot of literature written about soy and menopause but the big question is does it really work?  The answer is simply yes.  Soy and menopause do go hand and hand.  Many women no longer want HRT treatments because of the side effects and looking for more natural solutions to their menopause symptoms.

So does soy and menopause go together?  Well, it is actually quite simple.  Soy is a great way to help relieve menopause symptoms because of its high phytoestrogen content.  Soy can act like an estrogen surrogate.  The decline in estrogen during menopause is often the reason women suffer from a variety of symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, dry skin and vagina, hot flashes and more.  Although soy won't have a big impact on hot flashes, it may help relieve a number of the other symptoms.

Many conventional doctors continue to prescribe harsh medicines to help women through menopause.  Today however, natural hormone therapy is on the rise because women are afraid of the side effects of HRT.  Many Asian cultures have been enjoying soy for centuries and some swear it has a positive effect on menopause.  Soy is good for you and will not result in any harsh side effects.  Before participating in any hormonal treatments, be sure to check with your doctor just to be safe.
